This prototype created was for The Creative Collective and Adobe Creative Jam design challenge. We were to create a third-party mobile app to help underrepresented creatives access hiring opportunities, showcases, communities, and other resources that ultimately empower them and allow them to thrive. Kaleidoscope is a career-oriented mentorship platform serving the needs of underrepresented groups. Mentor profiles contain identifying information; however, mentee profiles are intentionally shown as different color kaleidoscopes to remove biases.
The task was to develop a third-party mobile app to bridge the gap for underrepresented creatives, enabling their access to career openings, exhibitions, communities, and vital resources. The objective was to empower these creators and foster their growth in the creative field.
Design a "Kaleidoscope," a pioneering mentorship platform dedicated to catering to the specific needs of underrepresented groups. The platform offers a rich array of resources, including job prospects, showcases, and community connections, all finely tuned to foster growth. To ensure impartiality, mentor profiles feature full identification, whereas mentee profiles are symbolized by varied color kaleidoscopes, erasing any predispositions.
This project underscored the significance of creating specialized platforms to empower underrepresented creatives. By leveraging a unique visual metaphor and purpose-driven features, we tackled biases head-on and provided a space where talent and potential shine regardless of background. The experience reinforced the pivotal role design plays in dismantling barriers and cultivating an inclusive creative ecosystem.
